SMITH, Benjamin: Convicted and transported in 1842 from Elmdon, Essex, England to Tasmania for seven years. Wife Ann and children Sarah, James, Benjamin, Zachariah and Hannah migrated in 1849 and settled in the Bothwell district. Benjamin Jnr became one of the pioneers to settle at Goulds Country in 1870.
