AUSTIN, Reubin William: My great grandfather, born 21 Jan 1841 in Alysham/Cawston, Norfolk, England. Came to Tasmania on the Dunorlan 2 in Mar 1859. I am trying to locate details of his siblings Mary Anne, Alice and Herbert. Mary Anne died around 1890, Alice married in England and Herbert was a stonemason from Oxfordshire. Their father was Abel and mother Sarah DYER. Brian Austin

BANNAM Robert: Born c1840-1884, arrived Launceston, March 1855 on Whirlwind, buried Longford, wife Mary HANNAH (died Victoria in 1908), six children, seeking information about two daughters: 1) Mary 1841-1869 married Charles TABER at Longford in 1857, children Arthur 1860, Charles 1862 and Sarah 1865. Son of Charles 1862, Albert Charles TABER died 1917 WW1, Belgium. 2) Ellen 1855-1875 married William TURNER at Longford in 1871, children Robert 1873, William 1875. BECKER: George Gottfreid and family arrived in Tasmania per America in 1855, from Hessen, Frankfurt on Maine, Germany. His wife, Katharina WOLF, and sons - Phillip (married Mary Elizabeth DAKIN/DEAKIN 1867); Balthasar/Joseph (married Mary Anne SLATTER 1869); August (married Elizabeth Frances WOODBERRY 1874) and Gottfreid (married Sarah WALKER in 1870), accompanied them. Mary Phillipina Becker, born  1856 at Falmouth, married  Henry WOODBERRY in 1875. BECKETT, George: Born 1885 and Minnie Frances SMITH, born 1879 at St Helens were married in 1908. They had five children: Male (died in infancy), Winifred, Lionel, Lenna and Wesley. They moved to the north-western districts where Minnie died in 1944 at Wynyard and George in 1970 at Smithton. Jennie Chapman
BLAIR, Alexander Thomas Barrett Alexander was born in England 1818 and died Launceston Tasmania 1900.  He married Mary Ann HEDINGTON born Jun 1822. Married 22 Feb, 1841 Launceston. Mary died 1910 Launceston. Alexander was a shipwright built "Tamar Maid". They lived French Street, Launceston.  Alexander arrived Sydney on the Samuel Cunard in 1839. They had 12 children. BLAKE, Robert: Convicted in 1831 of "machine breaking" at Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire and transported on the Eliza that year.  He married Mary BOWDEN 1835 in Bothwell, daughter of convict Edward BOWDEN (baptised as BUNNETT). Their children Louisa, Maria, Mary Annie, Isaac, Charles, Joseph, Eleanor, Robert Edward, George, William Jonathon, Alfred James and Eliza Harriett all survived and married. Malcolm Ward
(de) BOMFORD: Isaac BOMFORD lived in Trim, County Meath, Ireland pre 1833. Mainly Northern Tasmania. 1833+. I strongly suspect along with other researchers that my BOMFORD’s are descended from Colonel Laurence BOMFORD (~1617 to 1720) as appears in "Burkes Irish Family Records", 5th Edition, 1976, London, Burkes Peerage Limited, page 152-5 and to Peter Bamford's "The Bomford Family and Allied Families". BOWATER, Daniel: Born c1817 Birmingham UK. Convicted and transported in 1837 to VDL.  Married to Bridget NOWLAN, Rebecca COLLINS, Elizabeth BETTS, Emma EVANS. Settled in Westbury Tasmania and died in 1890. Would like to hear of anyone else interested in these families, especially Bridget NOWLAN, I have drawn a blank on her. Mae Bowater
BOWDEN (alias BUNNETT), Edward: Convicted at Little Walsingham, Norfolk in 1826 for fowl stealing and transported on the Governor Ready in 1827.  He was baptised Edward BUNNETT but apparently adopted his mother's maiden name after a prior conviction.  He married Diana AYRES in 1816 at Shropham, Norfolk. Diana and 5 children emigrated in 1830 and they had 3 more children at Bothwell, where they settled. The Bowden family still lives in the district. Malcolm Ward
BRANSDEN, Richard: Married Alice DOWZER in 1854 at Perth, Tasmania. They were both convicts. They had 10 children - Richard William married Martha BROWN; John married Mary DALLY; Thomas married Jessie WILLIAMS;  George married Elizabeth WILLIAMS & Ellen COOKE; Henry Arthur married Rosanna THOMPSON; Alice married Frederick BENNETT; Caroline married Jim BURKE;  Elizabeth married Henry FORD; Mary; Charles Sydney married Grace LINDSAY. BRENNAN, Patrick: Born c1823 Athlone, Ireland. Convicted of killing cattle with intent to steal and sentenced to 10 years transportation in 1852 on Lord Auckland with his brother Charles. Married Mary BARRY (daughter of fellow convict Patrick BARRY) 1861 in Hobart Tas. They had 7 children: Bernard, Patrick, William, John, Catherine, Mary and Michael. Karen Jones
BRICKNELL, James: Born in East Tisted, Hampshire, England in 1813. Emigrated with wife Ann PULLINGER on the Ocean Chief arriving 1856. Settled in the Longford District. BROWN, William: Married Margaret Jane GRAHAM on 31 Aug 1829 at St Macartans Cathedral, County Tyrone, Ireland. William born in Ulster 01 Feb 1809 and Margaret born in November 1807. Arrived free settlers in Launceston c1835 with first of their children, Rebecca and William.  Subsequently had 9 other children. Am interested in pre-1829 GRAHAM and BROWN families. Ainslie Pyne

BUGG, Jonathan: Born c1819 Layham, Suffolk England married Anna Maria KING and migrated to Tasmania in 1860 on Indianna. They had 14 children; the first 11 were born in England: Joseph, Mary Ann, Robert, Samuel, Sarah, Drucilla, Jonathan, James, Philip, Charles, Ellis, William, Eliza and Betsy. The family lived in the district of Emu Bay. Karen Jones
BURDEN Thomas: Born c1897 Wilcot, Wiltshire, England.  Thomas was transported in the ship Palmyra after having been found guilty of stealing a lamb.  He resided in the Bream Creek area of Tasmania after completing his sentence and was joined by two of his sons (William & John) and their families who emigrated in 1854. Iris's parents  Patrick and Alice BURNS from Branxholme district fostered my dad Francis Patrick from an early age.  I believe Francis's mothers name was Florence STANTON  Would love to hear from anyone who may be able to help. CAMPBELL, William:  Transported on the Isabella from Leith in Scotland for forgery. Sentenced to life. Arrived in Tasmania in 1833. Wife Jane (nee JOHNSTON) and sons William, Robert and John arrived around 1846. Further children, Annie, Cecelia, Jane, James, Henry and Clementine born between 1837 and 1847.  William was a convict on the Loan Gang in Campbell Town and then moved to Hobart. After receiving his Pardon, the family moved to Brunswick in Melbourne. CARSWELL, Alexander: The third child & third son of Allan CARSWELL & Agnes HOWIE, born at the farm Craig of Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland  on 2 June 1783. Said to have died in Van Diemen's Land. John Carswell
CATLEY, William: Born 1829 Bristol, England. Married Susannah MILES in 1858. Children: Amy Ann, Louisa Florence, Alice Maud, Clara Amelia, Emily Elizabeth, William Aubrey, Robert William, Agnes Rosina, James Thomas (2), Florence Emily. William was in Police force and later owned Tea Gardens at New Town, Hobart. Susannah was a Governess at Government House. Jann Parkes

CLARK[E], Charles: Came to Tasmania in 1855 from Rockland, Norfolk, England, with his wife , Jane (STEELE), and 6 of their 12 children: Matilda Susannah, Susan, Ann, George, Henry, Editha Alice, James, Charles, Charles (again), Ellis, Evelina Jane, Agnes Bertha. Last 6 all born in Tasmania. Alice Norton
CLARK, William: Born c1816 married Emily PERRY, born c1834, in 1853 at Hobart. They had nine daughters: Emily, Elizabeth, Fanny, Ellen, Harriett, Laura, Harriett, Female and Ada. They settled in the Huon district with William dying in 1890 and Emily in 1892. Emily married Richard STANTON and they are my great, great, grandparents. Jennie Chapman
COAN, Bryan: Born c1802 in Sligo, Ireland. In 1839 was convicted of "perjury" and received 7 years. In 1840 he arrived at Norfolk Island where he remained till 1844 when he left arriving in Tasmania aboard the Maitland. He had two brothers Martin & Patrick and two sisters Sally & Mary. His father's name was Bryan. Bill Harris
COLLETT, John: Convicted and transported for life on the Commodore Hayes in 1823 with two companions named Perry and Sawyer. Please send as much information as possible, including death dates and places if possible. Margaret Munday
COLLIS, John: Born 16 Jul 1837 in Campbell Town, Tasmania. Father's name William COLLIS, mother Mary FLANDERS.  They had a daughter Eliza Ann born 16 Jun 1835 and another son James born 15 Jul 1839 and died aged 6 months. I know nothing more about their lives in Tasmania, John was married in Bendigo, Australia 29 October 1870.  John is my husbands great grandfather.  More information about this family and where they came from is what I am searching for. CUBITT, James:  Born 1787.  Convicted in County Antrim Assizes 23 Mar 1819 and transported aboard Castle Forbes to Van Diemen's Land arriving 01 Mar 1820.  Wife Elizabeth COLE and son John emigrated to Hobart in 1827.  Owned property near Chudleigh, Gawler, North Motton, Deloraine and Cressy.  Died at Brook Hill, near Chudleigh on 18 Oct 1857. DILLON, Adam (Aaron) & Mary Hart DILLON: Convicts to Tasmania per Lady Castlereagh and Mary Ann.  Married St David's 15th December, 1823. Adam was a carpenter. Doreen McFarland
DOUCE, James: Married Hannah SMITH in Bothwell in 1855. Both were born in England. James was a convict and Hannah a free immigrant. They had three children before Hannah left James. Sarah married William STAFFORD, Benjamin James married Sarah LUNSON and Alice married John BISHOP. Jennie Chapman
DRADDY, Honorah: Born 1822 in Cork, Ireland. Arrived as a bounty immigrant on board the Royal Sovereign in 1843. Honorah married Robert EUSTACE 25 April 1844 at Launceston, Tasmania. They had 6 children: Emily / Martha / John / Robert / Eliza / Rebecca. Robert d. 1883 at Latrobe, Tasmania. Honorah died 1899 at Waratah, Tasmania. Leone Fabre
DUNCOMBE, John - Born 1772 in Cripplegate, England. Indicted 26 Sep 1787 for stealing 210 yards of everlasting, [cloth].  Found guilty and transported for 7 years.  Arrived in Sydney on the Albermarle, which was part of the Third Fleet in 1791. Transferred to Norfolk Island on the Atlantic and remained there as a carpenter after his sentence expired. John married Elizabeth HAMBLEY on 27 Jun 1808 in Hobart. John became deranged and was sent to an asylum in Sydney in Sep 1819. He was admitted to the Benevolent Society on 24  Sep 1827 and listed in the 1828 Census aged 57 years.
